A psychiatrist is a licensed medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing Mental Illness|mental health disorders. Psychiatrists may treat a wide variety of conditions or specialize in certain areas. They may work one on one with a client or in a group setting.

They see clients with conditions requiring medication on a short-term basis, such as anxiety and panic disorder, those with long-term needs such as bipolar disorder, and people who have more disabling issues such as schizophrenia.
